Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Our Commitment
Kingston upon Thames Carpet Cleaning is firmly committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships. We recognise our responsibility to help prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. This statement sets out the steps we are taking to identify, assess, and address the risks of modern slavery in connection with our business activities.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy toward all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, and human trafficking. This applies to our own workforce, contractors, agency workers, and all suppliers and business partners. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation involved in, or benefiting from, modern slavery practices. Any confirmed breach of this policy will result in decisive action, which may include termination of contracts, removal from our approved supplier list, and reporting to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Kingston upon Thames Carpet Cleaning provides professional carpet and upholstery cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. Our supply chains include providers of cleaning products, machinery and equipment, vehicle services, protective clothing, and various professional services that support our day-to-day operations. We recognise that even where the risk may appear low, modern slavery can occur at any stage of the supply chain, including manufacturing, transportation, and support services.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and business partners to uphold the same high standards we apply to our own operations. As part of our efforts to prevent modern slavery, we are strengthening our supplier due diligence and oversight in the following ways:
We communicate our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery and human trafficking to existing and potential suppliers, making clear that compliance with this position is a condition of doing business with us.
We reserve the right to conduct proportionate supplier audits, focusing on higher-risk categories such as product manufacturing, outsourced labour, and international sourcing. These audits may include requests for information on labour practices, worker welfare, recruitment processes, and subcontracting arrangements.
Where concerns are identified, we will work with suppliers to develop corrective action plans with clear timelines. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our expectations, we will seek alternative options and may terminate the relationship.
We also review publicly available information and industry guidance to help us identify potential risks in our sector and supply chains.
Training, Awareness, and Reporting Channels
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery among our employees and managers. Relevant staff receive guidance on recognising the signs of exploitation, understanding our policies, and using appropriate reporting routes. We promote a culture in which people feel able to raise concerns without fear of reprisal.
Any member of staff, supplier, or third party who suspects that modern slavery may be taking place in our business or supply chains is encouraged to raise their concerns with management or an appropriate senior representative within the company. Reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly. Where necessary, we will cooperate with law enforcement and other relevant bodies.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Kingston upon Thames Carpet Cleaning recognises that the fight against modern slavery is an ongoing process, requiring continuous vigilance and improvement. We are committed to reviewing the effectiveness of our modern slavery measures on an annual basis. This review will consider any identified risks, audit findings, reported concerns, changes in our operations or supply chains, and updates to relevant legislation or best practice.
Following each annual review, we will update this statement and, where necessary, revise our policies, procedures, and supplier requirements to strengthen our approach. Our aim is to reduce the risk of modern slavery year on year and to promote fair, safe, and respectful working conditions throughout our sphere of influence.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of Kingston upon Thames Carpet Cleaning and reflects our position for the current financial year. It will be reviewed and published annually.
